Sunday, March 13, 2016: US & Canada to Spring ForwardPeople will have to set their clocks 1 hour forward from 2 am (02:00) to 3 am (03:00), local time, as Daylight Saving Time (DST) begins in these countries. Residents of northern border cities in Mexico follow the US's DST schedule. They will also be springing forward by an hour at the same time as their American and Canadian counterparts. DST Turns 100 Years OldEven though Thunder Bay in Ontario, Canada was the first place in the world to use Daylight Saving Time, Germany was the first country to implement a nationwide DST policy on April 30, 1916, in the midst of the First World War. Upcoming Daylight Saving Time ChangesThe months of March and April see a lot of Daylight Saving Time switches around the world. This year, most Europeans will start DST on Sunday, March 27, while Australians and New Zealanders in the Southern Hemisphere will end DST on Sunday, April 3. |
